Prof Scott Kitchener

Professor Scott Kitchener is a skilled clinical leader with extensive experience overseeing governance and operations of major health facilities across Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, led University and biotechnology research groups in Australia and the UK and held clinical and leadership roles in all three Services of the Australian Defence Force. He has deployed on nine overseas operations in clinical and subunit command roles.
Prof. Scott has specialist qualifications in General Practice (Rural Generalism), Public Health Medicine and Medical Administration. His Professorial appointments have been with the University of Queensland in the Centre for Military and Veterans Health, at Griffith Health School of Medicine, and at the University of Sunshine Coast in Medical and in Clinical Trials. His postgraduate research theses have been in skin cancer in military populations, development of a new vaccination mode for the Timor Leste operations, developing new antimalarial medication for both the Bougainville and Timor Leste operations and in outbreak management during the InterFET Operation.
In 2020, Prof. Scott became a Principal Investigator in COVID vaccine development and the Senior Medical Advisor to the Chief Health Officer in Queensland, carrying responsibility of Public Health Incident Controller during the declared public health emergency. He then moved to take a leadership role in the population vaccine roll-out.
Prof. Scott holds board positions for multiple organisations, including the Queensland RACGP and Family Planning Queensland.
Prof. Scott Kitchener is accepting patients with acute and chronic disease presentations. As a specialist Public Health Physician, he provides specialist services in prevention and consults in cancer prevention and early detection. No referrals are required for these specialist consultations. Surgical management of skin cancers is also available at The Banyans medical Centre.
