Psychologist
Dr Gavin Brown is an experienced clinical psychologist and has completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) and a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) at Griffith University.
Gavin’s experience ranges across many age groups and settings. He has worked in private practice and with Qld Health in a specialist mental health unit for young adults. Gavin has also previously worked for Headspace and for a not-for-profit providing mental health services to rural and remote Queensland, as well as specialist treatment facilities dealing with chronic pain and substance abuse. He works with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders and grief and loss. Gavin predominantly uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, EMDR and CBT in his work with individual clients.
Gavin’s major area of interest is in couples counselling and he is a Certified Gottman Therapist and uses this evidence based approach in working with relationships affected by conflict, infidelity and other mental health issues.
Gavin is also a trainer and facilitator of various education programs including The Gottman Institute’s 2-day ‘Art and Science of Love’ workshop for couples and the 2-day internationally recognised Mental Health First Aid program. Gavin is also an accredited supervisor of provisional psychologists and clinical psychology registrars with AHPRA.
