A Cervical Screening Test is a procedure to check for cervical cancer. The test detects the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) so that it can be monitored or investigated further if needed. Having regular screening tests decreases the risk of cervical cancer.
Women can access a vaccine that protects against the most common cause of cervical cancers, HPV. However, vaccines do not protect against all HPV types that cause cervical cancers, therefore all vaccinated women need regular Cervical Screening Tests.
