COVID-19 vaccinations available from early November

The Banyans Medical Centre at Bowen Hills is pleased to offer COVID-19 Pfizer vaccinations from early November 2021.

As Queensland moves closer to 80% vaccination rates, and opening its boarders on December 17, The Banyans Medical Centre is excited to be a part of bringing Queenslanders and their families together for Christmas 2021.

From December 17, COVID-19 vaccination will become the first line of defence when it comes to protecting Queenslanders and their loved ones.

It’s important to remember that three weeks are required between the 1st and 2nd doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and it takes two weeks to optimise the effectiveness of the vaccine following your second dose.

Note that the ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) recommends a 3rd dose of COVID-19 vaccine as part of the primary course in individuals who are severely immunocompromised.

While the vaccine can cause some side effects, only around 55% of those who have received the vaccine have reported this.

The vaccine affects everyone differently, but for those who do experience side effects, it’s just a sign that your immune system is being prepared and trained to recognise, and fight, the COVID-19 virus.

These are the most common side effects and they usually dissipate within one to two days:
– Pain or swelling at the injection site;
– Tiredness;
– Headache;
– Muscle pain;
– Fever and chills; and
– Joint pain.

If you don’t experience any side effects, don’t panic, the vaccine is still working!

Bookings for vaccination appointments are available now,  so get in quick to ensure you are fully vaccinated before the boarders re-open on December 17.
